Nominations for the third 2022 SEIB Insurance Brokers Yard of the Year Awards are open.
The awards celebrate excellence in competition, teaching, training and horse care. SEIB have teamed up with Horse & Hound to help provide recognition for the top yards across the country. The proprietors of the short-listed yards will be invited to a prestigious awards ceremony in July 2022 where the winners will be announced.
There are categories for best small riding school (20 horses and under), best large riding school (over 20 horses), best full livery yard, best DIY livery yard, best Riding for the Disabled (RDA) riding school and, for the first time in 2022, a category for competition venues.
SEIB Marketing Manager Nicolina Mackenzie said: “SEIB have insured livery yards and riding schools for decades and are proud to support the industry with these awards. At SEIB we know that there are many yards, venues, centres and riding schools that provide an outstanding service and we want to recognise and highlight their professionalism, skill and commitment.”
The winner of the 2021 SEIB Small Riding School of the year, Tina Layton of Contessa Riding and Training Centre said: “We were thrilled to win the SEIB Award and I also achieved the ABRS Fellowship at the end of the year. We are a small, niche yard with our advanced horses and vaulting club. We couldn’t have asked for a higher accolade than this recognition from the SEIB Awards and the ABRS Fellowship so, after 45 years, we decided it was the time to finish on a high. We will be closing the doors of Contessa at the end of March.”
Horse & Hound Editor in Chief Sarah Jenkins said: “So many professionals and volunteers in the horse world work tirelessly in their areas and could not be more deserving of wider recognition. SEIB have long supported excellence in yards with their awards, in categories that we also feel strongly at Horse & Hound need positive recognition and support.”
The public are being encouraged to nominate their favourite yard across these six categories at www.seib.co.uk/yard-awards . Nominations will close at 5pm on April 14th.
Competition, training, horse care, marketing, business acumen will be taken into account by the judges when making their decision. The atmosphere in the yard and the help and support for clients will also be considered.
A panel of judges will draw up a short-list of yards based on the public nominations. The shortlisted yards will be invited to submit footage of the yard and what makes it special. The winners will be announced at the SEIB Awards in July 2022.
