Sue Nicklin will be taking charge of the performance phase of the Working Hunter Pony classes on Friday.
Sue has a plentiful background in the showing industry, starting on the lead rein and working through all the disciplines including producing and breeding from her base at Bladon Stud in Staffordshire. It only seemed right for the next step in her career was to start judging.
During the class, Sue wants to see a smooth, forward round which boast great rhythm and balance. The pony should have quality bone and substance, and the combination of horse and rider should be in perfect harmony, but most importantly looking as though they are enjoying it!
Sue will be judging alongside conformation judge Jane Carter. The working hunter pony section will begin with the intermediate class at 7.10am, and the first class will be followed by the 153cm, 143cm and 133cm classes in descending order. The lucky recipients of a first and second classes will be judged for the championship in the Andrews Bowen International Arena at 3.40pm.
Last year, the multi-garlanded Noble Peppermint stood champion before she went on to stand supreme pony champion ridden by Elsie Lynch. Who will be lucky enough to stand champion this year? And will they repeat Pepper and Elsie’s magical time in the supreme?
